Yponomeuta rorrella

(Hübner, 1796)16.005

A widespread and fairly common resident across our region as well as being a known migrant. Feeds on Willow Salix species. Needs great care to separate from partly shaded forms of Yponomeuta padella, malinellus or cagnagella but this can be done with practice on fresh individuals. When compared to those three species, the absence of a black spot at the base of the middle row of spots will confirm the identity as rorrella.
