Phyllocnistis saligna

(Zeller, 1839)15.090

A relatively common leaf-miner associated with willows. Along with Phyllocnistis ramulicola (which mines the stems of young willows and sallows), this pair is currently undergoing some research and there has proved to be a third species involved, Phyllocnistis asiatica which has only recently been added to the British list. Records of adults require dissection. Separation using larval mines is still a work in progress.
