A recent addition to the British list, first recorded in Surrey in 2017 but has spread widely since then and is now known from each of the Upper Thames counties. Part of a group of Caloptilia species that has become challenging to identify, due to the variation within and between the two broods, and the potential presence of additional similar species. Well-marked specimens from the over-wintering brood may be recognisable from markings, but dissection is needed for summer brood specimens and where there is any doubt.
