A very uncommon leaf-miner on Black Poplar which is slowly spreading westwards from East Anglia, first discovered in our region in October 2024 by Andy & Melissa Banthorpe near Olney, Bucks. Like E.turbidella (on Grey Poplar) and E.argyropeza (on Aspen), the larva begins mining the leaf petiole then forms a blotch in a "green island" at the leaf base.
