Pammene juniperana

(Millière, 1858)49.3771

The first British record of this moth was from a Berkshire garden near Wokingham on 6 August 2018. In 2022 further records were made at Aston Upthorpe (VC22) and Chorleywood (VC24, the latter to the TIP pheromone lure) as well as a handful from various other English counties, and it now seems to be widely scattered but rarely seen.

On the continent several species of juniper are recorded as food-plants. The Aston Upthorpe population may be using the native Junipers there, but it is open to speculation whether the Wokingham and Chorleywood records may have come from a cultivated juniper or even a different garden conifer plant.

First Recorded in 2018.
