A local species of marshy areas, wet woodland, heathland and moorland found across the British Isles but seemingly absent from large areas of the Midlands. In our region it is now restricted to a handful of locations in the far south-east, having seemingly been lost from former sites around Oxford. Can be difficult to separate from Ancylis subarcuana (not found in our area) and Ancylis diminutana.
