A species from mainland Europe first recorded in the UK on 24 July 2008 in Zeal Monachorum, Devon (VC4) and with at least two additional examples found subsequently, one on 2 August 2018 from Horsey, Norfolk (VC27) and the other on 20 July 2022 from Weymouth, Dorset (VC9). In 2024 there was at least one further record, from Lydd, Kent (VC15) on 24 July, prior to the first sighting for our region in Finemere Wood, Bucks on 2 August (not yet mapped).
Likely to be a migrant, the moth is very similar to other Aethes species and genitalia inspection of any candidates will be required.  | Determination by Genitalia Examination (gen. det.) Required | |
