The edge of the geographical range of this species extends roughly southwest to northeast across the region. Widespread and frequent across eastern and southern parts, especially in more elevated, calcareous areas but also on lower ground on neutral clay, especially in north Buckinghamshire. Recent records from the Oxford area suggest that it may be spreading.
