Although apparently no longer qualifying for Nationally Scarce status, this species has a very patchy distribution nationally. The localised populations on well-drained calcareous terrain in west Oxfordshire and northwest Berkshire are at the edge of a wider stronghold area extending through Gloucestershire and into Dorset. Those in the far north of Buckinghamshire are the western extent of another stronghold extending through Bedfordshire into East Anglia.
